Session One of Module Two

Now I have started Module 2. I easy very grateful to be apart of the chat group on Tuesday evening. It was really good to hear ideas from students who were either studying Module 2 or Module 3. Since my reading module two I have started the thought process of the nature of my study.  I am really interested in the area of how ‘girls succeed better academically tan boys’. I was advised by Adesola that maybe I should look at the idea of gender. This also ties n quite well with my ethical considerations. This has now become a new mind map which I am currently consider for my study. I am also interested in the idea of on the effect of exercise on the brain in education. The main thing I gathered from this session was to investigate something that interest me within my practice, but investigate an unanswered question with in my field. There is no point conducting evidence for something that has already been proven.
Teaching as a profession, has been always important in history, documented from the early Greeks, with Aristotle and Plato still regarded highly into today’s world . I still believe we are learning new strategies for learning.  As the human race develops, so does teaching. From early Neanderthal man teaching other primitive man to hunt transformed to our current a complex educational profession. We have to contextualize our learning to what is happening around us. The learning has to be relevant to our needs.   As Plato, Father of Western philosophy , once commented ‘ The direction in which   education starts a man will determine his future in life”. A teacher’s job is to open doors, transferring knowledge, values and skills to their students. Using a variety of skill sets and constantly learning. A teacher plays more than a faciliator of education but a role model which can effect the development of a person, providing a moral conduct thus helping a per...

New Term

Over the last week I have read  through the  Module Two. I am looking forward to starting the course again. I have started to make a few notes, but I feel I need to read it a few more times to help me fully comprehend the module. I will start reading the booklet again tomorrow in preparation for Friday's Skype.  I am anxious regarding the  previous module, I hope I passed. I found working and studying quite hard, even tho I enjoyed the Skype sessions.

My first skype introduction

A few days ago, I had my first skype introduction for the course. Maria, my university supervisor, was able to engage and excite me about my forthcoming studies. The session was a brilliant taster to the course. It was also great to meet a supportive figure on the course.  In our session, we were able to converse about the course outline with special reference to module one. In addition to this, we had another discussion about my study plan, which fits in perfectly with my other commitments, allowing me to have a feasible way to study.  I was very glad we were able to discuss module one. This allowed me to ask all questions I had regarding the curriculum. Maria was very helpful, especially setting targets for me. Questioning seems to be a theme on the course and I liked how the process makes you think and reflect. The ethos distilled that there are no wrong or right answers is one that has captured my interest.  Interestingly, we were able to discuss contact...
Reading Adesola’s post has made me think about beginnings and thought process behind this.  A beginning, as a point in time or space at which something begins, sounds fresh and exciting. It feels like a moment of destiny, and moment of fresh change. Everyone remembers their first day at school, their first ever job, but a beginning can fill you with fear.  Working in the industry has many fresh beginnings and beginnings that also feel like a continue moving state. I did not start performing until I was 21, having my first dance class at the same age but worked hard with the skills set I had.   I remember my first professional panto as a main role. I was excited to start rehearsals, looked forward to meeting and excited to actually work. I remember the phone call from the director, I was ecstatic to be a part of the show, every moment I was full of excitement. When I put down the phone, a new feeling started, in the pit of my stomach. I was nervous, anxi...
Have decided to be very honest with my blog, putting both negative and positive experiences on here. I truly believe this will help me to reflect thoroughly in my personal development.  Earlier today was meant to be an important moment on my learning journey. I believed I had registered for my first introductory skype session with the distant learning course. As mentioned in previous post, my IT skills are in their ‘developing’ stages. In short, I missed the session. This was and still is a major upset for me. I needed this event to help me feel settled and give me the confidence to start well on the course. I panicked, and immediately felt lost on the course. I wondered what I had missed, and what my next steps should be. Then I realised why we have to blog our journey. I looked up other students on the course, and read their blogs. After reading many blogs I was able to gain an insight in to the session, they gave me a lot of good advice and guidance for the program...
This is my first official Blog. With my lack of IT skills, I am nervous and frustrated but hey, that’s never stopped me before.  I would like to take this opportunity to explain further, why I have joined Middlesex University. I believe Middlesex University and BA (HONS) Professional practice in Arts & Creative Industries course will be the perfect platform to help me achieve my dream of becoming a fully qualified teacher. It will help me to continue to develop my teaching skills within school, but also enable me as a student to be reflective and gain new knowledge and experiences that I can put into practice on a day-to-day basis.  Furthermore, with the range of experience I have had, working professionally in the performing arts industry and my varied experience in the education sector, this has enabled me to develop a wide range of teaching styles to support pupils to achieve their full potential and provide the guidance and sup...
